It was an excellent tour and experience during our New York tour with my nice and nephew. I highly recommend this tour even the waiting lines for the check-in process are very long and took almost 40 minutes to get through. The observation deck was all you would hope for...even on the three day weekend I went. When you are in line there are guys (legitimate) selling upgrades to the "Sky Ride Tour" that allows you to skip waiting in the first line. Ask a lot of questions about what this "tour" really is. It was not quite what I was expecting...but probably fun if you have children with you. If you have any issues with motion sickness...BEWARE!!! The "movie" you are watching is like you are zooming up, down and swooshing around between buildings in a helicopter...which I'd be fine with in real life..but when watching it on a screen, it made me feel ill. I kind of feel like this part of the tour could have been skipped...It is being sold as a guide to what you're going to be looking at from the observatory deck...which wasn't really necessary. I think most of us have some idea what we're looking for and at. :0)

As a 1st time visitor to NYC, I am glad that we took the opportunity to visit the ESB. The views were amazing, to say the least. The very long lines took away from the total experience. We decided to go the extra $15 charge to go to the 102nd floor but would advice others to save the money. The views were much better from the 86th but we didn't want to feel that we MISSED something. The view from the 102nd floor was hindered because of the smudged up, graffiti filled plexiglass.

On the day of our trip to the Empire State Building it was extremely foggy. We went along anyway but were told it was not a good day to visit and the staff could not have been more helpful and courteous in exchanging our tickets for the next day. This was the day we were due to fly back to the UK but they told us to arrive first thing and it would be fine. We did this and had the place to ourselves and a fantastic time there. Handicap Entrance - 34th St., the entrance between Bank of America and Hallmark Cards. Note: The 34th Street Handicap Entrance is only open Monday - Friday until 6pm. Please use the Main Entrance for all other times.
For visitors with pre-purchased Observatory Tickets:
After passing through the security check, proceed straight ahead to the ticket purchase line to exchange this voucher for actual observatory tickets. Proceed straight ahead and take the escalators (on the right hand side) to the second floor. Remote-controlled elevators will take 16 people at a time to the 80th Floor. An Observatory employee will direct guests off the elevator on the 80th floor and proceed towards the Tower Elevator to the 86th Floor Observatory. Arrive at the Observatory and enjoy the magnificent view!
Children and Seniors:
Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult. Toddler 5 and under are FREE!!!
Directions:
Detailed directions and public transportation will be described on your confirmation voucher OR take advantage of the Double Decker Loop that makes a stop at the Empire State Building.

Cancellation and No Show Policy:Once purchased tickets cannot be canceled. Tickets are non-refundable. No refunds due to weather conditions, length of lines, or wait times at the building. Only the Optional Audio Tour is subject to refund in the event of inclement weather or a special event which necessitates the closing of the Audio Tour. The Empire State Building reserves the right to close the Observatory early on very busy days. There may also be long wait lines to get into the building during busy tourist times.
