The idea of a Segway tour has fascinated me for years, but here in the UK we don;t have them so when planning out trip to San Francisco, We found the departure point really easily and after the training video and lesson on how to control the Segway, it was no time at all before we both felt at ease. You travel as a group, with an earpiece so that you can hear your guide. Out on the open road the Segway was really easy to control and a cool way of exploring SF. We had such great fun, it was a real shame to return when the tour was over. Our tour guide Mark was very entertaining, and did a great job of taking photos of us all which are made avaialble on facebook afterwards. Its not clear when booking, but the Segway has a storage pouch on it for your own personal belongings, I was able to fit my shoulder bag and a large Canon SLR Camera into it with no problems. Although you can't use a Camera when moving, there are several scheduled stops and I wanted to take some photos.

Our whole family of six who went on the Segway tour were thrilled with the experience. It was such fun, and we had an excellent guide in Dan. I have been on segway tours in Washington DC before, but this was definitely the best! I really appreciated that you showed a fun safety video beforehand, then went through a very organized and helpful training session before we started on the tour. These two safety components were far more thorough and informative than any other segway tours I've taken. The best part of the tour was our guide, Marie. Her enthusiasm, kindness, and description of places on the tour was excellent and made all the difference. I also loved how she took the time to learn everyone's name and refer to us by name throughout the tour! She is amazing and I will make a special request to have her be my guide next time I decide to take a tour.

My wife and I are both 65. This was a highly anticipated event on my "bucket list!" My expectations were exceeded! Upon our arrival at the SF Segway Tour, a young woman named "Kennedy" warmly greeted us. All the staff was very friendly and eager to please. Our tour guide, "Dave," was exceptional. He provided interesting historical trivia throughout the tour by way of a cool wireless sound system that each rider wore. I have been telling friends and family members what a great experience it was. The young, motivated staff even made the training fun! Thank you all for a great time. One of the best things we did in San Francisco!! Family of 4 (two teenaged daughters 13 & 15) have never been on a Segway before so were a bit unsure what to expect. We were put at ease from the moment we arrived. We had an awesome time and it's one of those experiences you talk about for the rest of your life. We recommend this tour to anyone visiting SF - to be put on the 'must do' list! Definitely value for money. Unfortunately we were departing SF that afternoon but we would have loved to do the advanced tour as well. Kristen was excellent and she looked after our group every second. We never felt unsafe travelling amongst the city traffic.

We were lucky enough to have our family & close friends as basically a private tour for 7 which was great. Kristen was a terrific guide & we had a lot of fun with her. Hannah was a great help in the office as we had terrible difficulty finding the tour point & were late arriving, which meant we were a bit stressed on arrival. We had a wonderful tour guide I think it was Dane. He made sure we were all feeling okay before setting out on the streets and was very concious of keeping and eye on all of us. His narration of the streets of San Franciso was great. I fell off unfortunately but he was there straight away to make sure I was okay. Luckily nothing broken only my pride. I cried for the nex half and hour or so but came right in the end. I think it just gave me a fright.

The Segway tour was the highlight in our trip to San Francisco. Possibly a little trickier than I imagined, but the training was well delivered and one to one wherever necessary and we left HQ with confidence! The tour was extensive, informative, not to mention entertaining (thank you Dane!), with safety always kept priority and ensured. We are all locals but wanted to experience driving a Segway. There was plenty of time to feel comfortable given the training. Cars were respectful of us as we were to them. The history was more than your average SF tour that even the history teacher in our group learned new information. (Thank you Dane.) We even had some time at the end to ride within a given area on our own to get the feel of it more. . Overall the tour exceeded our expectations and we agreed we would like to come back for the more advanced tour. Bonus: they post free pictures online.

This tour was a little more regimented than other Segway tours I've done because of the necessity for riding in the street rather than on the sidewalk. Last 10 mins was more freestyle for playing on the segways. Overall a good tour. Loved the headsets for communicating.

I took this tour with a couple of other 'Divas' on the Wednesday afternoon before running the Nike Women's Only half marathon on Sunday. This tour was a TOTAL BLAST and we talked other Divas into taking it before our 'big' run. Everyone thought it was a BLAST! Definitely worthwhile! Although the tour started with a terrifying moment of self doubt the staff at the San Francisco Tour Company were really good about guiding us through the process and building up our confidence before letting us out of the streets. Dan did a great job keeping us together, making sure traffic got out of our way and turning us into a tourist attraction because we were all smiling and having such great FUN! Hope to get to San Francisco another time to do it again!

All staff at the site were extremely helpful - our tour guide, Chelsea, was the BEST - knowledgable, funny and just a great leader! Although I had an accident during the tour, Chelsea was most attentive and concerned about my welfare, and made sure I wanted to continue the trip...and I certainly did! Chelsea patched me up with bandaids and an ice pack upon return to the office. Eli at the office called me a couple of days later to make sure I was OK. When I called back, he was not available so talked to Steve who asked me a number of questions and seemed genuinely concerned that I was physically OK (which I was other than a bruised and sore knee) and that I enjoyed the tour. Everyone made this an awesome activity for my daughter and myself - as I live in the Bay area (& my daughter lives in SF), we're definitely hoping to take another tour soon! We were there during Fleet week--one of the busiest weeks of the year. It was very crowded and our tour route had to be changed. It was still great fun. Marie was entertaining and made the best of alternate routes, crowded areas, and even one very angry bicycle man who tried to ruin our tour and her day. That being said, Dane did a great job in making the whole experience a great one to remember. Not only that but the teaching of how to use the Segway was done in a very open and fun manner. We felt at at ease and weren't intimidated by never having been on a Segway before. I gave you a Yelp review I just gave you the review yesterday eveneing. Please feel free to copy the text (any or all of it) to use on your website etc. We got some vouchers in December and finally took our Segway tour last Sunday. When we booked I was told to wear closed toe shoes etc and got very clear info about being there on time etc. I got a phone call the day before to confirm our reservation and to tell us to go to the bathroom before, since they don't have any onsite! Great clear info to start with! I was so exited about this tour - ever since I first saw a Segway I wanted to ride one!!! And boy I was not disappointed - it was sooooo fun - from start to finish we had a great experience. The staff was funny and welcoming and made every effort for us to be comfortable and to understand how the Segway works. First I was a bit scared, but after a couple of minutes riding around in the lot and getting instructions it felt totally natural - so easy to pick up its weird! Our guide was Chelsea and she was cute as a button and super funny - and so full of information. I lived in SF area for 21 years and learned so much about the city... At the end of the tour we went to the big pear at the end of Lombard and got to ride around and go a bit crazy and had our pics taken - it was a total blast! i felt like a giddy kid the whole time and could have not had a better time! There were 4 of us and we all felt that way - really, really, really fun!!!! I am hooked and I want MORE! I want to do the Golden Gate tour now, the Sausalito tour - the advanced tour - as a matter of fact i want to own a Segway!! Thanx so much Chelsea and Co to make our Sunday so special!!!

My three friends and I had went on the segway tour about 2 weeks ago. Each one of us was surprised about how fun it actually was. We thought it would be kinda dorky and we normally wouldn't have done it except we wanted to try something new. To our surprise it was one of the highlights of the weekend trip. My friend was from Phoenix and he was blown away. I really wish I remembered our tour guides' name because he was great. It was a good balance of humor and good educational information. I thought all the staff was very friendly and it looked like they loved their job. Seems like it would be a fun place to work. We will definitely try the advanced course next time we are in San Francisco. I really would like to give a shout out to our guide though the only way I can really think of is he is pretty tall and I think he has dark brown or black hair?

The Segway tour was great. The guides did a good job showing us how to use the machines before we left and reminding us of little things (e.g., checking brakes on downhills) along the way. This was the second Segway tour I've taken - the first being in Philadelphia - and for anyone who's never been on a Segway, I HIGHLY recommend it. I think others might agree that being on Segway gives one the same feeling of "freedom" as might have been felt the first time you rode a bicycle, and riding on the raised platform puts you in a great position for visibility. I found this way to visit San Francisco and learn about it's history to be much better than the traditional sitting on a tour bus and listening to a scripted speech. The guide was very knowledegable of the area, the history and we felt free to ask questions or make comments at any time. Being out and about on the Seqways gives you a sense of accomplishment as well as being part of the city, not just an observer. This was one of the best experiences that we had. I just wish there were Segways in Yosemite and Muir Woods to get you quickly to the best places to observe the Sequoia trees and redwoods. Will do this again in other cities.

We booked this activity as part of a 16th birthday trip for our grandson. He was thrilled! After the trip, of the ~10 activities we lined up, he ranked the SF Electric Tour Company as #2, only behind the mountain biking tour because he is an avid biker. SF has such rich history. While you may be a casual visitor, you will be fascinated with the details of this great city. As an SF native, our guide Cory, taught me a few things. How cool is that! One of us was age 71, the other age 84 -- well over the recommended age for this tour. Yet both of us enjoyed it tremendously, having no difficulties at all. It was so fun. Dane was a great guide, and he also gave us some confidence in riding in the parking lot. There was a guy in his late 50's that had back problems and had trouble balancing, but Dane went on with only teaching him, and some cute girl (Alisha?) went on with the 4 others that we had on the tour. It made me really happy to see that your guides did what they could to make everyone comfortable with the Segway, and that the guy with the troubles wasnt left behind. He was a nice guy, I had talked a bit with him before training started and I would have been a bit sad if he chickened out, because he had looked forward to the experience. It's GREAT that the guides introduces everyone in the tour to each other, it makes us more like a group and makes everything more comfortable. Dane was a great guide. Not only was he a good teacher, but he was funny and he knew a lot of stuff about San Francisco. It's nice that we were offered gloves, hats, jackets etc. It was quite cold in the end of the tour. It was nice that we wasn't more than 5 people on the trip. Made it more personal and fun.

Marie, our tour guide, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable regarding the Segways and how to operate them. She made us feel comfortable riding them when she knew most of us had never rode one before (Once you get on and try it, it's extremely easy to operate). This was way more fun than I imagined. We used a Groupon, so the tour was half price, but all four of us agreed that it would have easily been worth full price, and we plan on coming back to do the advanced tour soon. (Can't wait to take the Segways down Lombard Street!) Jeff Belbey, our tour guide, was fantastic, had a great sense of humor and knew a lot about the history of the area through which we were riding. The training was thorough, and Jeff was a patient teacher. The equipment all worked well, and the use of wireless headphones and receivers made it easy to hear the guide from the back of the pack. The only downside was the rain, but even that didn't dampen the experience. We all had a fabulous time! I highly recommend San Francisco Electric Tour Company's Segway tour for anyone who wants a fun and really unique way to see downtown.

This was a hoot...one of the best things we did on our family trip to San Francisco. None of us had ridden a Segway before, but through the help of the staff, we quickly mastered it. I hate that I can't remember the name of our guide because he was awesome! I was part of the 4:00 group on Weds. 9/22. He was very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and a lot of fun. We had a situation where a teenage boy was having difficulty with his Segway. Our guide was absolutely wonderful with him and handled the situation with the utmost professionalism, patience, and courtesy. My friend and I couldn't get over how great the guide was. We've told everyone about the tour and how much we loved it. We have friends in San Francisco who are going to try the tour now because we loved it so much. The entire staff was nice and fun to work with. It seems that good customer service is really hard to find these days; that is NOT the case with the San Francisco Tour Company! You have an amazing staff. People like that are hard to find these days. If I'm in San Francisco again, I will definitely do another tour.

It was so much fun! Some of my group (we're ladies mostly in our late 60's) were worried about being able to learn to "ride" the Segway and the SF traffic and all that but they are SO easy to ride-if you can stand, you can ride one and the route was not one with lots of traffic but it was an interesting tour. We took the Segway tour of San Francisco's North Beach area and loved it. Considering the amount of time (2.5 hours) and how much fun we had, the price is very fair. Very scenic with a few fun facts thrown in. Training was extremely thorough and well done. Provided mandatory helmets, safety vests, and one-way radios so you could hear the tour guide. Also had optional gloves and jackets for the cold. Our guide did a great job of keeping us safe in traffic situations where things could have been somewhat hazardous. Be sure to get the $10 parking voucher. It works at the nearby Ace Parking Anchorage garage. A great experience!!

I would highly recommend this, do it as soon as you arrive, it will really help you get your bearings. Be mindful SF is not a big place, if you do this towards the end of your holiday you may end up seeing things twice, in which case you can enjoy the Segway. Its a must and you will want a Segway!

Our group was make up of 8 people 50+ in age. We weren't sure if this tour was going to work for all of us. It was fantastic! We were all able to get control of our Segways after the training session and had a great time traveling around the city. Our guide was very informative and even spent time taking pictures of all of us in our vests and bike helmets. I would highly recommend this tour to folks of all ages.

We were a family of 12 who took the tour together. One of the guides was only willing to take 11 but the other young man agreed to do the 12 of us. We ranged in age from 17 to 76 and had a fabulous experience. We all understood that there was inherent danger if we did not follow the instructions we were given. We did an evening tour which was incredible. There was a large family and my husband and I. The family was quite a handful for our guides, and took quite a bit of time to train. The tour guides were most apologetic to us and one of the guides hung back with us during the tour and guided us personally through the city. We did this tour on our last night in S. F. We had a great time tooling around the streets of SF, learning to operate the machines, and having our freestyle time at the end. As natives, for us it was about trying Segways, and we had plenty of time to figure that out in a safe way. What a blast!!! We had a great time navigating the streets of San Francisco on the Segways. I especially liked having the freedom to cruise up and down the Pier at the end of the tour. That was, by far, my son's favorite part. I appreciate the staff not throwing my son off of his Segway even thought he kept starting and stopping, starting and stopping, over and over again, on the hills thereby irritating nearly everybody in the group, especially me.

As never having the experience of riding those crazy two wheeled contraptions, and both of us being responsible hard working grandparents, we did have a little bit of trepidation as to our learning curve towards a new mode of transportation. But our worries were quickly quailed when we met the polite, and pleasant staff awaiting our arrival. The half hour training and short video was easy to understand and to the point. We really enjoyed CODY as our guide, he made the tour worth every penny with his kindness and patience towards everyone's needs. He was funny, respectful, and informative with SAFETY as his goal as we trekked across the city listening to his narrative of landmark's history past and present. He also helped us with taking some group photos to capture that special moment. I would recommend this Tour company for anyone with a sense of adventure towards trying new things while exploring new venues. But remember to ask for CODY as your guide if you want to make it truly a special event. I booked this with my wife and daughter as something different to do while on holiday. My wife was extermely nervous of the segways and after 5 minutes was convinced that she could not do it and would fall off. After a break and video the instructors had us all going around in circles and slaloms to gain confidence. Everyone felt better after that as they take some getting used to. My wife was off and we went out on the open road. Cody our guide was excellent especially as it was only his 2nd week. Would recommend to anyone but heed the advice of the instructors and you will have fun. Like any motorised vehicle it is only as safe as the person contolling it.

Fun way to explore the hills without walking. If you are driving there, the tour company's tie up with Anchorage parking at $10 for 8 hrs is a reasonable deal for covered parking in that area.

We found the headquarters for the Electric Tour Company without any problem. There we met our tour guide, Chelsea, the manager, Lawrence, and the assistant tour guide, Cody. Our fellow tourists were a father, son (whose name was Matt), and daughter from Philadelphia. The first order of business was getting suited up for our tour. We each wore helmets and vests. We then watched an instructional DVD that was about 15 minutes long. Then we were each fitted with an ear piece so that we could hear everything that Chelsea said. Chelsea noticed that I wear hearing aids, so she gave me a special one that fit over my ear instead of in my ear. Next, we actually learned how to mount and maneuver a Segway in the parking lot. A nice test course was painted on the pavement, and cones were placed for us to maneuver around. We then had to learn how to proper dismount a Segway. After that, it was time to hit the streets (not the sidewalks!) and begin our tour. The first part of our tour took us around North Beach. Our first rest break was at Washington Square, which was towered over by the Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. From the square, you can also see the Transamerica Pyramid and the Coit Tower. We also were free to wheel around Pier 43, which is very close to the famous Pier 39; we did not get off our Segways at this point. At the Municipal Pier, we had the option of getting off our Segways or just free-wheeling. I did a combination of both because it was just so scenic. I could see Alcatraz Island, San Francisco Maritime National Park and its vessels, most prominently the Balcutha, and Ghiradelli Square. While we were free-wheeling, Matt wiped out. Some pieces of his Segway flew off, and Matt ripped his pants. Fortunately, both he and his Segway were all right. After this stop, we returned back to the Electric Tour Company’s headquarters. Chelsea, Cody, and Lawrence were great, and I had a wonderful first experience on the Segway.

Tour company is professionally run, from check-in to check-out. The tour guides were quite friendly, though I would have preferred to have one that was funnier (our group was not as lucky). This company offers one of the longest (time-wise) tours on a Segway at 2 hours (the other 30 minutes were "rest" time at a park, turning off the Segway and walking around the park, which I personally could have done with out). Regardless, still one of the more fun things one can do in San Francisco. I would recommend the tour.

I had a very fun experience on the tour. The October weather was beautiful and clear to view the spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Palace of Fine Arts, Ghiradelli Square, and Chrissy Fields. I wish our tour consisted of the famous Lombard Street (reserved for experienced riders), however by the end of our tour, I felt everyone felt comfortable with riding. I felt our guide and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

If we had time, I would have also signed up for the advanced tour. I had never ridden a Segwey before, and the training I got at SFO Segwey Tours was effective and low-pressure. The tour content is excellent and the staff is light-hearted and friendly. The leadership of the tour made the riding experience comfortable as we toured the streets of San Francisco. I highly recommend this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the city's history and features. Our family of four ended up being the only ones on the tour and we felt like we had our own private tour. Our teenage daughter was skeptical of it at first but we all had a great time! Coming from Munich, Germany we did the San Francisco Segway Tour on our second day in the USA. It was a perfect action for the entire family (parents and 2 kids 14 and 18 years old). It is fun riding a segway and the tour was very well chosen to see the city and the bay. The guides were friendly and gave good information on what we could see from the city. Our only regret was, that we were not able to also book the advanced tour.

The San Francisco Segway Tour exceeded our expectations. It was a fair price for a really great time. My wife and I have been to San Francisco many times before, utilized other tours, but none was as fun as this. We only wish the two and a half hours were longer. It was that fun. The staff were very safety conscious and the training was necessary to ensure a good time was had by all. My wife and I highly recommend this tour for all ages as recommended by the company. We will most likely do this again next summer with our teenagers. When you are done, you will want to buy your own Segway. This is a whole new perspective of seeing San Francisco. Seriously, take this tour!

This was such a fun adventure. The staff was excellent, professional and fun, the other people on the tour were great (something you can't control) and the Segways were a blast! Let me start by saying that my 15 year old pushed me to do this tour (I think Mall Cop had something to do with it). My husband and I thought this was going to be silly and a waste of money. I thanked my son after the tour...this was absolutely the best part of our vacation! Your employees are friendly and professional and were patient while instructing us not so young customers that don't seem to balance like the teenagers. The tour was part of a Father's Day present for my husband. We are locals and thoroughly enjoyed every part of the experience. I was worried that being in our sixties, it might be too difficult to manage. The staff was very re-assuring. It was the easiest and most fun activity we have done in a long time. We are recommending to tour to all our friends and plan on taking the advanced tour. We loved going through North Beach, the wharf, and Aquatic Park. I personally did not want to do the Segway tour, but my girlfriend was insistent that we do it. I went in with a bad attitude and I ended up absolutely loving the Segway Tour. Would recommend to any person up to the age of 65. just remember you are not going to feel super comfortable on the Segway when you first start out. After 5 minutes of riding it around you will feel comfortable and confident on the Segway. awesome tour looking forward to trying the EXPERIENCE TOUR!

We booked many tours for our three day visit to San Francisco but our Segway Tour definitely topped everything else our family did in the City. Our guide Adam was absolutely fantastic, but everyone we met at Segway was courteous, helpful and extremely friendly. We cannot wait to book our next tour with other friends and family members and have already been raving about how much fun we had courtesy of the SF Electric Tour Company. Thanks for the most exciting and informative three hours we spent in SFO. My wife is nearing 70 and was somewhat concerned about hindering the fun of others if unable to manage the Segway. I can only recommend making this Tour because you will get to know interesting facts about San Francisco and the places where you go and the tour guide will take you to places you might not immediately think of as something you have to see but still are worth it. Apart from that being on a Seway is a great experience that you cant have every day. Like our guide said "you are a tourist attraction now" when we entered the streets but being in the center of attention isn't the worse feeling ever (to me). Also when you are alone, a Segway Tour is great, maybe the best thing you can do because on the Segway you are on your own and can't really talk to other people.

The safety review was concise andd to the point. Standing securely erect on two wheels seems to be the opposite of normal reasoning however the Segway machines are easy to learn and use. Initial fears of speeding were quickly overcome and riding was as easy as riding a bike.

We discovered this tour option as we were surfing the net for things to do in San Francisco. We were sitting in the throws of winter, here in Alaska, and dreaming about fun and warm for our future trip. We wanted to do something different and memorable. I was a bit apprehensive but the tour guides immediately put me at ease and were helpful and never once made me feel silly for sticking out my tounge as I was concentrating on learning how to maneuver the segway. When our tour was over, I was disappointed that we couldn't keep riding. We had such a grand time, we signed up for the advanced tour and squeezed that in before we left the city to go home. Our guide was super friendly, easy to talk to, very informative (just not sure if all the info was actually factual ie. prisioners stayed in the holding cell for a 1 1/2 years before being taken over to Alcatraz because they had to wait for the holding cells to be filled)

I'm from Hong Kong and had the Segway tour on 8 Apr 4:30pm The tour guide Asha was great, she was friendly, helpful, informative and fun to be with and I truly appreciated her enrichment of the trip. So please kindly refer my gratitude to her. The first stop at the pier was a bit long, and though good for photo taking, would be more fun if can save time for other scenes. Overall a lovely tour.

When I think of tours I think of monotone guides leading the crowd of people, this was so far from that. Yoni our guide was an amazing skilled teacher and he invoked true laughter and good times, tempered it with absolute safety and topped it all off with the ability to make everyone interact and have an amazing time. He is worth his weight in gold as an employee and deserves a promotion or a leadership role.
